dermal fillersOne of the quickest and easiest ways to give your face an anti-aging beauty boost is with dermal fillers. These injectable treatments can erase wrinkles, fill in scars, and plump up and reshape the face. With a few carefully placed injections, dermal fillers can even provide a non-surgical “liquid facelift.”

There are many different types of dermal fillers available, each with their own unique advantages. Let’s take a quick look at some of the top fillers.

Juvederm- Plump Lips, Fill Nasolabial Folds

Juvederm is an injectable filler made from hyaluronic acid (HA). This is a natural compound found in the face. As you age, your HA levels decrease; Juvederm replaces them. While all fillers can fill in wrinkles, Juvederm is especially effective for those lines from the nose to the mouth (also called nasolabial folds) and for plumping lips.

Juvederm is a very smooth gel and is known for its natural-looking and feeling results. Injections typically last 6-9 months.

Juvederm Voluma- Corrects Volume Loss in the Cheek Area

The first and only FDA-approved filler to correct volume loss in the cheek area, Juvederm Voluma is an effective choice for making your face look younger and more rejuvenated. The cheek area is one of the first parts of the face to visibly age and Voluma corrects that problem by filling in hollow cheeks, restoring facial contours, and providing support to sagging skin.

Voluma injections are typically placed deeper than other dermal fillers. This allows the filler to support the structure of the skin from deep within. This filler is one of the longest lasting available and can last up to 2 years with a single treatment.

Radiesse- Restore Lost Volume

Comprised of tiny microspheres of calcium hydroxylapatite in a gel carrier, Radiesse is an ideal choice for restoring lost facial volume. The injections create a lattice network under the skin into which new collagen can grow. You’ll see both immediate results after treatment and continued improvement for months afterwards as new collagen production is stimulated.

Radiesse results can last up to a year.

Sculptra- Ideal for Facial Volume Loss

Sculptra is very effective in older patients, especially those with facial volume loss. Sculptra can restore contours and fullness. It is often used to fill in wrinkles and folds, correct hollowing of the cheeks, and refine the cheekbone and chin area.

Sculptra is made of poly-L-lactic acid, a substance that has been used medically for more than 25 years. This filler requires a series of injections, typically 2-3 sessions every 4-6 weeks. Results last up to 2 years although minor touch ups may be needed.

Restylane- A Great All Around Filler

Like Juvederm, Restylane is a hyaluronic acid filler. We love this filler for its natural-looking results. With proper technique, the results are smooth, radiant and rejuvenating, not fake or overdone. This filler is a great choice for softening lines, wrinkles and folds across the face. It can also be used to plump the lips. Results last 6-8 months or more.
