I absolutely adore Dr. Amerian. She is the consummate dermatologist. She is intelligent, extremely knowledgeable and caring. Whenever I see her, she makes me feel like I am her most important priority. She listens to what I am saying, does a very careful skin exam, and then puts together a treatment plan that is spot on. Dr. Amerian is always there for me. Her nurses, staff and facialist are absolutely the best, and the service they provide is outstanding. I give Dr. Amerian my highest recommendation. I've been coming here for over six years, and I've brought both of my kids. One of my kids came in for acne, and Dr. Amerian fixed the problem right away. I brought my daughter in for what she thought was a pimple, but it ended up being MRSA - a bad bacterial infection. Dr. Amerian promptly diagnosed it and my daughter was put on the right treatment, and she got better right away. Not only did she calm my daughter and me down, she helped us out with cost by trying using samples in the office that she could give me for free. Any time I have a problem, she goes far and beyond any other doctor. She is also great about following up with me on the phone. Dr. Amerian is one of the most thorough and caring doctors I have ever met. First of all, she knows her stuff - she graduated top of her class at UCLA, and has won multiple awards for being one of the top dermatologists in the area. She spends a lot of time with me during each office visit, and is very attentive to my desires and concerns. Both her and Dr. George have had close to 30 years of practice in all the procedures done in the office (and all of the procedures are done by the doctors), so you are guaranteed to get the best quality of treatment here. Second of all, she goes above and beyond for her patients. Whenever my medications are not covered by insurance, she writes appeals to insurance companies on my behalf to make sure I get the best medication possible, which I have never had another doctor do for me. I am just out of college and can't really afford to spend a lot of money on my skincare. Dr. Amerian is very sensitive to this, and created an affordable skincare plan for me with products that I can get samples of, and medications that will be covered by my insurance. Also, whenever I need to be squeezed in, she always finds a way, even if it is last minute. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful in answering any of my questions. If you want the best quality treatment in the area, go see her - it's worth the visit!! Erica L., October 4, 2012
Well, what can I say but this - it is a doctor like Dr. Amerian that makes this world a beautiful place to live. She is my favorite doctor on the planet not just because she is THE BEST doctor on the planet but it's also 'coz she is such an amazingly down-to-earth person. Whether I see her every now and then or if I go to see her in a matter of months (and years, at times), she still makes me feel so special. It always feels like it was just yesterday that I last met her. It's not just another doctor-patient relationship that she develops with her patients, it's beyond that. It's a feeling of compassion that she has for others that makes her who she is - simply THE BEST!!! It is this empathy in her that forges bonds between her ever so grateful patients (as myself) and her. Regardless of the time lapse, her staff always remembers me. What's more is that they are so friendly, polite, accommodating and oh so human. It's a great feeling to be treated like another human being and I have to admit that her staff does a great job at that. Kudos to them all!!! I feel so blessed to have found, Dr. Amerian!!! Dr. Mary Lee Amerian is the sweetest lady! She is the first dermatologist I met in Los Angeles who really cares about your skin problems. I've been to two other "celebrity" dermatologists before and yes they were as expensive (perhaps more expensive than Mary Lee) and NO they did not help my acne problem. To be honest with you, I don't care how expensive she is....my skin is SO important and what she did for me is worth every single penny! From the ladies who work at the front desk to the Dr. herself, everybody was super sweet and helpful. Dr. Amerian is very professional and thorough. Everybody has their own experience obviously and I don't like advertising someone or someplace here on yelp but all I want to say here is that I've really been to famous dermatologist before and never ever got a good result about my skin problems....The topical treatments and creams dr. Mary Lee prescribed were the only ones worked for me! My skins clear and looks amazing and that makes me HAPPY:) Have a wonderful day and beautiful skin everyone. Simin E., August 8, 2012
Dr. Amerian and her staff are amazing. I would highly recommend them for any dermatology needs. I began seeing Dr. Amerian because of acne (face and body). I had been put on many medications in the past and she put me o a regime that quickly changed my skin. Although it is pricey, it is completely worth it. She was willing to tweak the medication to fit me, (whether I was dry, oily, etc.). With that said, with a phone call to her office I would have a response from either her staff or herself with n o time. She is very thorough and assures that you are happy. They are very flexible with your schedule and you are able to get in quickly if necessary. Not only is she a great doctor, but also she is a very kind person who really cares about her patients. The same goes for her staff. They are on top of their game and are also extremely caring people. You are always greeted with smiling faces. Dr. Amerian and Anterasian are truly wonderful. I've been getting Botox for a long time, and they are among the best I've ever been to. I've received Botox from both of them and they both have an artful touch and are very direct about what procedures I could do and why. The last time I was in there, Dr. Amerian took a lot of time talking with me about my concerns and she was very forthcoming about what to expect. I feel completely comfortable and safe with them and her office staff is also very cool. They are non-snobby and genuinely sweet and concerned about my well being. I needed the name of a really good dermatologist, and so I asked a friend of mine who has worked as a special care nurse for VIP plastic surgery patients in Los Angeles for over 30 years. She recommended Dr. Mary Lee Amerian, the same doctor she sent her own family to see. I have now been a patient of Dr. Amerian's for 11 years. You may have seen her on TV or heard her mentioned by various celebrities, but those things aren't important to me. I go there for results. Dr. Amerian knows exactly what to do to make my skin look wonderful. My first treatment erased more than 80% of the discoloration from skin grafts I had carried for 35 years. Within 2 weeks of my first appointment, my complexion glowed with health, and all my girlfriend's wanted to know what I was doing/using to make my skin look so great. For the first time since I was a young teen, my skin looked better than it did covered with skillfully applied foundation make-up. A little dab of concealer under my eyes was all I needed to rival any skin on the red carpet. Over the years my friends and I have seen her for a number of conditions (acne, rosacea, age spots, wrinkles, dry skin, rashes, spider veins, hair removal, infection, lesions, scars, etc.). Sometimes treatment was state of the art, and other times low tech remedies (such as simple compresses of hydrogen peroxide applied at home) were all that was needed. It is that mix of high tech and low tech solutions, combined with good results and a kind staff, however, that tells me I am getting great care. I was never pressured to purchase skin care products or expensive lasering, but she did recommend a few skin care products (by various companies) when I first started going there. I never would have discovered them on my own. I don't mind recommendations if they work. The few other dermatologists I have visited over the last 30 years were disappointing. Their solutions weren't practical. I would smear myself with greasy, sticky or irritating creams that created little improvement, and I could never sustain the unpleasantness over the long term. I would quit using the products and would not go back. Now that I have had a chance to experience a "really good" dermatologist, I will never settle for "mediocre" again. Average doctors don't seem to make the effort to invest in new equipment or gain the experience to know about all the new ways to treat problem areas. Heather E., August 20, 2010
I had a fraxel laser treatment with Dr. Anterasian.... The office was very helpful and pleasant. I love my results. I highly recommend this office, for any skin issues........If you want to turn back time and solve your skin problems, all in one office, this is the place. Amanda L., August 17, 2010
I have been under the medical care of Dr. Amerian since 2004. Dr. Amerian is a caring physician and excellent dermatologist, and because I was under her care she detected early stage melanoma on the back of my right leg during a routine examination. The melanoma was successfully removed the next day in Dr. Amerian's office by her partner, Dr. Anterasian, an excellent surgeon and caring physician. If I had not been under the care of Dr. Amerian, my melanoma most likely would not have been discovered until it was in the advance stage, which would have been too late to save my life. I have sensitive skin, and I have been treated by both Dr. Amerian and Dr. Anterasian every 3 to 4 weeks for many years. Both Dr. Amerian and Dr. Anterasian are highly knowledgeable and professional, and they are always caring, compassionate and friendly. I went to see Dr. Amerian and I was so impressed that I decided to write my first review on Yelp. I got to their office and I was seen promptly. She is a warm and personal doctor, but at the same time she carefully explains the more technical issues very clearly. She is the type of doctor that can calm your fears and helps you to take a positive attitude. I really liked how the situation was managed during my visit, with a whole team testing different stuff. A friendly guy was coordinating the whole process and even a professional photographer was taking pictures to document everything. From my experience I can say that they are all driven to customer satisfaction. Dr. Amerian has great connections in the industry and she is willing to call them, she did that in my case. I want to commend Dr. Amerian for the effective and personable service which she furnished me while traveling away from home on business in LA. This was particularly true in view of the fact that I am not a regular patient nor was my visit the result of a professional referral. Nevertheless, I was able to make an expeditious and convenient appointment. She and her staff dealt swiftly with the problem which she diagnosed and treated on the spot. She patiently spent time with me personally to treat the problem, which, as a result, quickly resolved favorably. She also personally followed up the effectiveness of the treatment several days later. I currently live on the east coast of the U.S. and I can honestly say that I not only was impressed by Dr. Amerian's professionalism, knowledge ability and diligence, but amazed at the ease with which I was able to handle my problem. Back east, I have the best doctors available, but, either because of the institutional settings in which they operate, or the managed care system, the experience of seeing a doctor in even the most routine situations is time consuming and impersonal to an almost unpleasant degree. It was, rather, a pleasure to see Dr. Amerian. If the quality of her services is any indication of the quality of medical care on the west coast, it is far superior to comparable care on the east coast.
