Research Projects at the Santa Monica Laser
and Skin Care Center
The Santa Monica Laser and Skin Care Center is engaging in active research, designed to study which treatment methods for facial rejuvenation work best. Participants in research projects receive treatments at half the regular price. In addition, after treatments are completed, should there be any differences in the appearance of the two treated areas, the correction will be done at no additional charge. This will ensure that all patients participating in research studies ultimately receive the best possible outcome from their treatments.

Currently, two research studies are in progress. Patients who wish to participate in these research studies are invited to call 310-829-9396 or contact us for a complementary consultation with Dr. Anterasian.

Upper Lip Lines Study

We are investigating which of two treatments for the vertical upper lip lines, also known as "smoker's lines," is better. Participants will have one half of their lip treated in one manner and the other half of their lip treated in a different manner. Results will be assessed immediately after treatment is completed and three months later. At that time, should there be any differences in the appearance of the lip, it will be corrected at no additional charge.

Facial Skin Tightening Study

Currently, two different radio frequency devices are available for tightening and toning the skin of the face, without surgery. They are the Thermage and the Polaris. This study will investigate whether or not one device is superior. Participants will have half of their face treated with the Thermage device and the other half treated with the Polaris device. Results of the treatment will be assessed immediately after treatment is completed and three months later. At that time, should there be any differences in the appearance of the two sides of the face, it will be corrected at no additional charge.
