Santa Monica Laser and Skin Care Center Announces Zeltiq Procedure for Fat Removal Now Available in the Los Angeles Area

Santa Monica, Calif.—May 20, 2010—Dr. Mary Lee Amerian and Dr. George Anterasian are proud to announce that we have now obtained our Zeltiq device and are using it for non-surgical body contouring and fat removal. The treatments are performed in our Santa Monica office, a location conveniently located to much of the greater Los Angeles area. We are among the very first offices in the Los Angeles area to obtain the Zeltiq device and make it available to our non-surgical body contouring patients.

The Zeltiq procedure reduces fat by cooling it. Ideal candidates for the procedure have discrete and localized fat bulges on the abdomen, love handles, back, or other areas. Zeltiq is especially helpful when the fat bulge cannot be reduced by diet and exercise. Zeltiq treatments result in noticeable and natural looking fat reduction in the treated areas.

The procedure is done by applying the Zeltiq applicator to the fat bulge for one hour. During this time, the applicator chills the fat. The exposure of fat cells to cooling begins a process of natural fat cell removal. There is no discomfort during the time the applicator is on the skin.

Most patients will treat two areas of their body during their treatment session in order to maintain symmetry (one area on each side of the body). Thus, most appointments for Zeltiq will last for a little over two hours. Patients may do whatever they wish during this time, including reading, working with their electronic devices, or listening to music. The visible reduction in fat will appear over the next two to three months following the procedure.

The Zeltiq procedure is extremely safe. There is minimal or no discomfort during the procedure, and absolutely no down after the procedure. There may be mild tenderness after the treatment and a temporary reduction in sensation resulting from the chilling of the tissues. Most patients resume their normal activities, including returning to work and exercise regimens, on the same day as the procedure. Three months after the first procedure, the procedure may be repeated to further enhance the result.
