Polaris
Polaris is an FDA approved method for treating wrinkles on the face and neck without surgery. Ideal candidates for Polaris have mild or moderate facial wrinkling. The Polaris can be used to treat wrinkles on the face, fine wrinkles around the eyes (crow's feet), and wrinkles around the mouth. New York Magazine named the Polaris the Best Anti-Aging treatment. Ideal candidate for Polaris have mild or moderate facial wrinkling and thin or medium thickness skin.
Polaris uses a new technology known as "ELOS," an abbreviation for "electro-optical synergy." With ELOS technology, radio frequency energy is combined with light energy to stimulate collagen production, and reduce or eliminate wrinkles. The two different types of energies work together to produce a synergistic effect, leading to a more effective treatment. The light energy treats the fine wrinkles in the skin surface, improves skin tone, and promotes pore size reduction. The radio frequency energy heats the deeper tissues of the skin. This heating action promotes new collagen formation, treats the deeper wrinkles, and produces a skin tightening effect. Thus, with one treatment, the skin is treated at multiples levels, resulting in a more effective treatment.
There is no significant recovery downtime with Polaris. Make-up can be applied immediately after the procedure, and normal activities can be resumed immediately after leaving the office. Most patients will require four or five treatments spaced a few weeks apart. In many physicians offices this procedure is performed by a nurse. However, in our practice, this procedure is only performed by a board-certified physician.
Because of the "ELOS" technology, Polaris treatments can improve the appearance of the skin in several different ways. Polaris treatments result in a reduction in the fine wrinkles on the skin surface, and improved skin tone. The increase in collagen production improves the deeper wrinkles and produces a skin tightening effect. In addition, pore-size reduction is promoted. For these reasons, patients have been quite pleased with the results of their Polaris treatments.
