Who Is It For

With aging comes wrinkling and sagging of the eyelid skin. Eyelid Thermage NXT is an FDA approved procedure that tightens eyelid skin, smoothes the texture of the eyelids, and deceases eyelid hooding without surgery or injections. Patients benefit from a single treatment that has no downtime, bruising, or swelling. Ideal candidates for the Eyelid Thermage NXT have mild to moderate eyelid laxity. Patients with greater laxity should be treated with alternative modalities.

The Thermage NXT represents the "Next Generation" of Thermage, and it offers many advantages over the original Thermage. Its most important advantage is that it allows us to make many more passes over the tissues than we could make with the original Thermage. For example, with Thermage NXT treatment of the eyelids, we are now introducing 450 pulses into the upper eyelids instead of the 225 pulses that we used to give. This results in the new Thermage NXT eyelid treatments being even more effective than the earlier Thermage eyelid treatments.

In many physician offices, a nurse performs this procedure. However in our office, only board certified physicians perform the procedure.

How It Works

The treatment tip simultaneously heats and cools the skin. It emits radio frequency energy to heat the collagen in the deeper skin layers while simultaneously protecting the top layers of the skin with a cooling spray. The heating action causes the collagen in the deeper layers of the skin to tighten immediately. In addition, it stimulates new collagen production, which further enhances the result.

There is no downtime with the Eyelid Thermage NXT procedure, and patients can resume all of their normal activities immediately after leaving the office.

Results

Patients who have had eyelid Thermage NXT report that their eyelid sagging is improved and both the upper and lower eyelids are tighter. The eyes look brighter, the eyes appear more open, and under-eye bags are reduced. In addition, the improved smoothness of the skin makes it easier to apply eye make-up. Patients have reported only minimal if any discomfort during the procedure.

Eyelid Thermage is a good procedure to cosmetically enhance the eyelid tissues in patients who have mild to moderate eyelid laxity.
